Anders and Magne clamp the chines to the ribs.
Tor-Erik shaves wood for some pegs.
Every other rib ges a clamp, and the clamps get shifted as you work down the kayak.
Drilling holes and pounding in the pegs can be a little tricky because of lack of space.
The workshop
I think it's pretty neat to look at all those frames.
Ragnar works on what will soon become Snøhetta.
The only power tools used are battery drills.
Once the frames are made, they are taken outside for a nice coat of linseed oil.
The deck stringers going onto Stian's kayak
Checking for fit. Notice the two blocks of wood on the foot beam, giving some toe room.
We're getting ahead of ourselves now, but in the end, we had a chance to take our kayaks out for a test run, and paddle Kurt's kayaks.
First launch for Tor-Erik
I get to try out Kurt's Baidarka
Anders at play
Ragnar in one of Kurt's kayaks
Åsa, who built a kayak in a previous class. It handles beautifully, and reminds me of an Anas Acuta.
It's fun just to hang out.
